Technical requirements for staging Banjo

Banjo can be performed in almost any internal setting, and on some occasions, where certain requirements are met, outside as well. It has been previously performed in a 500 seat auditorium, a basket ball stadium, school library as well as a general classroom.

Minimum Requirements

One power point, and a performing area 6 metres wide by 4 metres deep and 2.5 metres high

We require uninterrupted access to the performance space one hour prior to the performance for set up. If there is any delay to this time then we can not guarantee the show will be ready to perform at the designated time. This time can be reduced by arranging students to assist with unloading of the set and props.

Every attempt has been made to ensure that the performance is as theatrical as possible with the aim of offering something that is as far removed as possible from a recitation. To this end, we have created a theatrical set including a canvas backdrop, table, slip-rail fence and saddle, hat stand, various boxes as well as supplying a professional sound system.

Where it is possible we request that teachers arrange for performances to occur in the most suitable theatrical building available.

If lighting equipment is sited at the venue we also ask that arrangements are made to make same available to us. Lights can add significantly to the theatricality of the performance. If a teacher is not available to assist with ensuring lights are arranged in a suitable way it may be appropriate to arrange a senior student to assist in the one hour set up period prior to the show. Generally speaking a warm wash focused as much as possible on the performing areas is all that is required.

To avoid delays on our arrival please advise office staff of which venue will be used and ensure it is available one hour prior to performance.
