BANJO 2002     Year of the Outback Tour

A Theatrical Performance based on the Life and Times of A.B.(Banjo) Paterson

SPECIAL ADVANCE ANNOUNCEMENT

Expressions of interest are being sought from community groups, arts organizations or presenters who may be interested in being involved in:
BANJO 2002 - The Year of the Outback Tour.

BANJO is a One Man Show performed by Karm (Craig) Gilespie exploring the life and works of A.B.Paterson and is in itself a celebration of Colonial Australia, the Australian Frontier, of Federation and of the "wondrous glory of the everlasting stars" that is The Australian Outback.

BANJO - THE NEW EXTENDED VERSION

This 2002 production will be bigger and better than ever; originally 50 minutes long, the Year of the Outback production will be 90 minutes (plus interval) and will include even more of the Aussie Bard’s great works. A new updated design ensures the show will be suitable for larger venues.

This NEW EXTENDED version of BANJO will be touring in 2002 to all Australian states and territories.

VENUE: Banjo has successfully played in 500 seat theatres, 250 seat cabaret rooms, 100 seat country RS&L Halls, and to an intimate 25 in a woolshed (Note: you do not have to have a venue organized to express your interest)

COSTS: We anticipate being able to access various forms of assistance, which will ensure your organization is not in any financial risk.
As a guideline our usual performance fee is $750 plus 12% box office royalty, however with our sponsorship deal (pending) this amount will be drastically reduced, and for smaller groups we are willing to negotiate a lower fee with a higher percentage royalty.

MARKETING AND PUBLICITY: Obviously you know your audience better than we possibly can, so it is only natural that your involvement in this area will be crucial. However our aim is to have a sponsorship deal and funding package in place that will greatly enhance local promotional and advertising activities.

THE AUDIENCE: So what is the demographic. Experience has proven that every single person who has had the pleasure of the BANJO experience has been thoroughly entertained and amazed at the caliber of this world class performance. However, in marketing terms, it is undoubtedly the combined extremes of schools and seniors who form the core market for this product. The senior citizen centres, bowling and social clubs form the main focus of direct marketing efforts, whilst local radio and television have continually shown their interest in this project. Poetry clubs and Historical Societies also offer great potential, as do all local community based groups.

EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST

Without your interest and involvement this tour will not happen.
